Celebrating our cultural heritage
Protecting local farmland and ecosystems
Revitalizing farming communities in the County of Brant
Who we are
We are a small, not-for-profit land trust operating in the County of Brant, Ontario. We protect and celebrate the local farmland and ecosystems.
We believe in….
- supporting small-scale organic farmers
- encouraging diversity in the farming community
- promoting our rural community through eco-cultural tourism and education
- researching creative ways to revitalize our farming community
What we do
We operate the Langford Schoolhouse as a community hub. We are very proud of the fact that the Schoolhouse is now fully accessible and has a certified kitchen. We run food and farming programming and our annual SOS Fest. The Schoolhouse is a wonderful venue that is available to rent for a wide variety of community events such as workshops, film nights, lectures and meetings, as well as private events such as socials, showers, weddings, teas and reunions.
We research best practices for protecting farmland and ways to integrate elders with youth in farming related workshops and events to help connect new farmers with land.
In our endeavours to protect farmland, we are organizing and fundraising to purchase a farm for new, small-scale, organic farmers. This farm will provide secure, affordable access to protected farmland.
We provide suppers and advocate for migrant farm workers to help nourish them and to help them feel a part of our community.
We are working to develop cultural and ecotourism activities and events through partnerships with local businesses, such as cycling and canoe tours. To investigate the possibility of an ecotourism partnership with us:
