Eligibility: Canadian citizen, permanent resident or refugee, 30 years or younger
Location: between Brantford and Ancaster, Ontario
Housing: option of on-site rental accommodation at Hearts Content Organic Farm
We are a not-for-profit organization that operates the Langford Schoolhouse as a rural community hub. We also work to protect farmland and local ecosystems and foster a welcoming and inclusive rural community. We are collecting digital histories of former students who attended the Langford Schoolhouse and working to create a museum. We are also working on policies and procedures to acquire land trust status.
Are you interested in helping to do interviews and background archival research on the history of the Langford community?
Would you like to help our community to learn about the original treaties with First Nations?
Do you have any experience helping to work on administrative issues with another land trust or museum?
Job Description: You would be involved in helping with the following:
Helping to gather, scan and categorize archival photos and documents to create a digital archive for the Langford community
Outreach to our rural community to gather documents (First Nations, settler, newcomers).
Outreach to migrant farm workers (community meals, food redistribution)

Facilitating community meetings related to gathering archival documentsand our agricultural history.

Preparatory work to meet the requirements to apply for charitable status as a land trust (charity application, policies, procedures, governance, forms) and to set up a museum at the Langford Schoolhouse.
Minor construction to prepare museum.
Care of the Langford Schoolhouse – basic cleaning.
Social media updates on the progress of our archival work and efforts to become a museum and create community awareness of our activities.
Helping with administrative work: organizingfiles, bookkeeping, creating posters.

- must be between 18 & 30 years old and legally allowed to work in Canada (a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have been granted refugee status),

2) Groundskeeper
Organization: Langford Conservancy
Eligibility: Canadian citizen, permanent resident or refugee status, 18 to 30 years old only
Location: Brantford, Ontario
Housing Optional rental (furnished suite).
Term: Early July to end of August

Would you like to do help foster a more inclusive community for migrant farm workers, and seniors?
Would you like to help rescue food and redistribute it?
Do you want to learn about protecting farmland and doing conservation work on farmland and natural areas?

We are a small, not for profit organization that own the Langford Schoolhouse, and provides outreach to ecological farmers, seniors, and migrant farm workers. We are founding members of Lynden Friends of Migrant Farm Workers.

We operate the Langford Schoolhouse as an accessible rural community hub, with a certified kitchen. The Langford Schoolhouse has an array of solar panels that produce energy that we feed into the grid.
We also …
- protect farmland and local ecosystems,
- promote ecotourism with bird and plant walks on a local organic farm,
- rescue and redistribute organic food to migrant farm workers and seniors, and
- redistribute some bikes to migrant farm workers.

Job Description:
Assist with the care of the Langford Schoolhouse and with the grounds.
1) Cleaning the building after rentals,
2) showing the building to potential renters,
3) caring for the grounds (mowing, trimming, weeding),
4) helping with planting projects, and with control of phragmites,

5) assisting with renovations to the ground floor to prepare it for a museum (construction, painting, repairs).
6) food rescue and redistribution
7) care and maintenance related to eco-tourism for events, including grounds work.

We are seeking someone who is highly motivated, and who has skills related to doing renovations and community work. We will provide mentoring and work with you.

- Pay: $22/hour, 35 hours/week
- Benefits: 4% vacation pay
- Schedule: flexible 7-hour day shift, Monday to Friday, occasional weekends
- Assets: Spanish speaking, comfortable using a variety of tools and a tractor, driver’s license, bike repair skills.
- Experience: 1 year of renovation/construction.
- Ability to commute or relocate before starting work (required).
